Roger Martin
Roger Martin is one of the world's most influential thinkers on strategy and competitive positioning. He served as Dean of the Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto from 1998 to 2013, during which he transformed the school into a global leader in integrative thinking and business design. In 2013, he was named Global Dean of the Year by Poets & Quants. Martin is the author of eleven books, including the bestselling *Playing to Win* (co-authored with A.G. Lafley), which won the Thinkers50 Award for Best Book of 2012-13. His other influential works include *Getting Beyond Better* (with Sally Osberg) and *The Opposable Mind*, which introduced his concept of integrative thinking to business audiences worldwide. He has published more than twenty articles in Harvard Business Review and writes a regular column for *The Globe and Mail*. Martin serves as Institute Director of the Martin Prosperity Institute and holds the Premier's Chair in Productivity & Competitiveness. Known for his ability to cut through strategic complexity with rare clarity, Martin advises major corporations globally and has become particularly influential for distinguishing between planning and strategy—arguing that true strategy requires making uncomfortable choices about competitive positioning rather than creating comfortable lists of activities.
