Douglas Orane

  The Honourable Douglas Orane, CD is the retired Chairman and CEO of GraceKennedy Limited, Jamaica's iconic consumer goods and financial services conglomerate. An engineer by training (Glasgow University) and Harvard MBA graduate (Baker Scholar, top 5%), Orane joined GraceKennedy in 1981 as Corporate Planner and rose to CEO in 1995, adding Chairman in 1998. Under his leadership, GraceKennedy launched the transformative "2020 Vision" in 1996, growing revenues from US$303 million to US$862 million and profits from US$10.5 million to US$55 million by 2021. He served as Independent Senator in Jamaica's Parliament (1998-2002) and chaired a task force that produced "The Orane Report," saving the Jamaican government millions. As President of the Private Sector Organization of Jamaica (1992-1994), he championed electoral reform and corporate governance. Appointed to Jamaica's Privy Council in 2009 and awarded Commander of the Order of Distinction, Orane now mentors young entrepreneurs and supports educational institutions throughout Jamaica.
